In the depths of winter the branches of the
red osier dogwood (
Cornus stolonifera) shrubs provide really nice colour to the winter landscape with their bright red overwintering colour. Now the twigs of the trees are an average green, but the clusters of white flowers are providing a nice touch to the spring greenery in the Bella Coola Valley where they occur along streams and edges of fields.
