Sandhill Cranes

While traveling across the Chilcotin Plateau between Bella Coola and Williams Lake this week, I noticed a couple of Sandhill Cranes flying along close to Highway 20.  I waited for them to land in a meadow and then walked to the edge and took this picture.  They are a large beautiful bird standing 4' tall.  Occasionally they stop in the Bella Coola Valley on their migrations.
