A spectacular spring day in the Bella Coola Valley today, with no wind and clear skies and some real warmth. The Bella Coola River and it's tributaries are all very low, reaching the lowest point of the year before the snow melt starts. The down side with 16C weather is that it brought out hordes of those early big dumb mosquitoes!

It's warmer there than here in the Lower Mainland! 12C yesterday.

ReplyDeleteHi.
ReplyDeleteAre mosquitoes very common in Bella Coola area? What time of year is the worst, etc?
Great blog. Thanks!
Yes mosquitoes are common, less so towards the ocean but there are pockets all over the valley that have a fair number. It's mostly in the evening when the sun goes down from spring till late July. Some years worse than others. Grizzly
