Full

The Bella Coola River is at what could unscientifically be described as 'Full".  After two warm days and nights with thunderstorms in different areas of the watershed all helping to bring more snow melt down,  the River is quite high ( not a good month for fishing this year).  Various flood watches are being put out because Environment Canada is forecasting 30 mm of rain tonight and tomorrow which if it happens will certainly make the Bella Coola River "High and Angry" again.

The photo is on Hammer Road just above the Environment Canada water station gauge this evening - the river is right at road level.  Grizzly

  1. Just checking out the map to Bella Coola and was wondering what the Bella Coola highway road conditions are usually like. We travel by rv and might want to add it to our wish list if the road conditions are okay for that kind of travel. My brother-in-law just retired from being the principal of the school in Bella Bella this year and we are definitely going as far as Vancouver Island but probably not for another 4 years.

    1. Should have no problem, there are lots of RV's moving through now with the ferry traffic. You might get a little muddy on the gravel portion (60 km) which covers "The Hill" if it recently rained but otherwise a nice drive. Grizzly
