The phenological work is fascinating, and your commentary and photos of Bella Coola and the surrounding area make me long to visit. One day I would love to spend some time exploring out your way, perhaps stay a while. As someone living in the north of Scotland, it is always interesting to look for links to this area and the past and Alexander Mackenzie is buried two and a half hours drive south of me.

Thanks again for all the time and work you have put in here.

AlexAlexhttp://alexandermichaelcrow.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5984494962567056095.post-78575169624193075742014-07-14T21:47:38.784-07:002014-07-14T21:47:38.784-07:00How's the trails in Tweedsmuir doing. It is a lot dependent on the strength of the salmon runs. If we have a strong run of spawning salmon then the bears will be down in the valley and you will have opportunities to see them. I seem to remember three years ago was a poor year for salmon, hopefully we have an average or better year this year. Puntzi-my husband was stationed there in 1959-60 when it was part of the American Air Force's "Pine Tree Line". He saw it get down to -60 F. that winter and at that base they got Arctic rations (more food !). His love of the area led him to find a place out in the West Branch and we have built a summer home there-have roots in that part of the country now.leahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08913017362578005039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5984494962567056095.post-23224997143756090292014-01-27T09:44:23.702-08:002014-01-27T09:44:23.702-08:00It has been especially beautiful in the Fraser Val...It has been especially beautiful in the Fraser Valley as well. Bella Coola was one of the most beautiful places I visited. Having the mountains on both sides and driving down the hill was quite the experience. I've visited this blog regularly when planning my trip. I hope to go back one day to hike the rainbow range (there was still snow when I got there) and hunlen falls (the bridges were down). All that to say that I am a regular visitor (from Ottawa) to your blog.
