Photoshop?

Grizzly normally doesn't use any other than his own untouched photographs on his blog (occasionally Mrs Grizzly slips one in!), but a friend slipped me this photo from an anonymous source and they said it was taken at the Atnarko River bear viewing station at Belarko (in Tweedsmuir Park, just east of Stuie BC).  I was suspicious about this photo being slightly "photoshopped", when I noted on the digital properties that it had been handled by the Adobe Photoshop program.  Sadly I told the friend I couldn't use it, but he went back through his sources and convinced me that it had only been Photoshopped to sharpen an otherwise blurry photo, so I decided what the heck, it's a great photo and likely was taken in the Bella Coola Valley.  Enjoy.  Grizzly

  4. Hey Grizzly - what is the population of grizzlies in Bella Coola? Are they around throughout the year or do they only show up when it is fishing season?

    1. We have grizzlies around from early spring after they come out of dens, through the spring and into the summer and fall season. Usually a few signs of the last bears in December feeding on coho salmon. Don't know the population numbers, but they move around over good size ranges and seek the food sources in different areas of the coast and Tweedsmuir Park as opportunities arise. Grizzly

  5. Hi Grizzly, my husband and I follow your posts with interest, we saw a BEAUTIFUL home for sale in Chilcotin for only $198,000. Was wondering if this was anywhere near you? We live in Ont and hoping to retire away from it all. We know Bella Coola is isolated but that doesnt bother us. Could this be why this beautiful home is such a reasonable price?

    1. The Chilcotin area starts on the west side of the Fraser River (about 20 minutes from Williams Lake) and runs for several hundred kms, west towards the Coast Mountains. It's a large area and the price of a house would depend how isolated it was, whether it has power and and all weather road. Bella Coola to Williams Lake is 454 km, so a big area. Grizzly
