Snow Shower

Another day of nice temperatures at 0 C and just below.  For awhile the upper valley got a brief snow shower that left a centimetre or two in the snowy Nusatsum area, but only a wisp elsewhere.  The Bella Coola River is low, but still not clear.  Grizzly

  1. Have a happy holiday and new year Grizz! look forward to your blog every day. thank you.

Is the Hill navigatable during the winter time? Never been there in winter and was wondering about driving out to Williams Lake when the road is clear? They keep it sanded? Is it safe to drive, especially after the Flood damage?

  2. Highway 20 the Hill - Yes it's considered an all weather road. You must carry chains in the winter and be prepared to use them. The bottom half tends to be on the dry face of the mountain and doesn't get as much snow as the higher elevations, but can still be tricky and conditions change rapidly, but carrying and using chains is the best way to go. The upper end of the hill is in a wetter area it receives much more snow, but the grades are not as bad, although you still need to be prepared and go slow, use chains if any doubt and check www.drivebc.ca for recent information.
